I can think of only one at the moment: transcendent.
I still can't really process everything in its entierty yet because it was just that fucking awesome.
I shall start at the beginning.
thursday afternoon (after working during the morning) i traveled to bristol, ri with heather to see her school. she had to pick up some books she had ordered at the library and i accompanied her. i got to see the pace where her professors offices are and the radio station/newspaper office and the library (obviously..haha) and just the whole darned campus. it's rather beautiful and i feel like if i went to roger williams, i wouldnt have switched my major because according to heather/how she describes them...her professors are fucking awesome.
then later thursday we came back to my house and we got my truck and i drove us into new bedford to see our high school european history teacher play the bagpipes for two hours for the Aha! night. (For those of you who don't know what Aha! is, its a once a month festival on the second thursday of each month and there is different art and stuff going on for little or no cost). We met heather's father there and went to where our history teacher was going to be playing. he played for two hours and had three sets of bagpipes with him. it was really awesome. he is so good at it and he told us he plays at the pub across the street from where he was every sunday, and we should check it out sometime, so i think we might do that sometime because it sounds awesome. the way he reacted is what partially made my night. the other part that made my night was the music/experiencing it with heather. I expected him to be his shy self (which he sort of was) and to greet us with a "hi" or "hey" or "hello" followed by ms. correia and bryant. but he actually was enthusiastic and greeted us by first name and actually talked to us. it was kinda nice, eventhough i had to tell him that i only graduated with a history minor, partially due to the not very good history department at mcla. and he asked me about job prospects/other things, and it was pretty neat chatting with him in between songs. it was nice to see him after four years or so.
i also created an album on facebook called pictures i took with my phone (or something to that nature). it's this little creative project i have started where i take pictures of odd things at places I go on my cell phone. (mostly because i didnt bring my actual camera with me haha) but i think the quality of the cell phone photo adds a sort of charm to these odd things. you should go check it out. (also, keep checking back because i'll always have more photos to add...and i have some from friday to add, which i will do at a later date...possibly after work tomorrow?)
friday was also amazing. after work/errands, heather and I went to Providence, RI to see HUMANWINE play at firehouse 13. it was awesome. we got there early and holly brewer (of HUMANWINE) recognized/saw heather and we went over and started talking to her. and then she invited us (heather and me) to go eat with her and the band (her, her husband m@, nate the drummer and dilley the bass player) at this vietnamese place called Pho' Paradise (pronounced "Foh") so we went there and on the way we met dilley and nate and we got a table. but the lady from firehouse 13 wanted them to do sound check asap. (the lady from the firehouse 13 was also very nice...she shook my hand). there were two bands before HUMANWINE...one guitar playing lady called lady blanche (sp?). she was pretty good and her songs were funny but they all had the same kind of theme. and then the trachtenburg family slideshow players. who were late b/c the father stopped to buy a new shirt/tie. they were ok. I really liked their concept. they go around to yard sales of strangers and buy slide reels of dead people and interpret them and retell the stories via the slides and sing the songs while the slides are being shown. then HUMANWINE played an awesome set. they played some songs that i never heard live before and it was awesome...this included two of my absolute favorites "Wake Up" and "Rivolta Silenziosa". It was just so awesome. and then the last band played. they were a weird band and i feel like i would have thought they were ok if they played like three hours earlier than they did. they did a lot of screaming and they were very loud for like 1am. so heather and i listened to a few of their songs then found holly and said goodbye/hugged her and left. then we got frostys on the way home and the drivethru lady didnt give us straws. also, gertrude, my gps, flipped out and started talking multi lingual and it was ridiculous.
then today i drove to provincetown, ma and met up with my friend chris from mcla. we hung out today and it was awesome. we went to this beach via walking on a really long rock jetty and then in between some sand dunes. and it was awesome. pictures will be on facebook soon...i promise.
this was an amazing weekend. beyond words.
cloud nine.
