This past weekend was one of the most amazing i've had in awhile.
it started friday june 12th. i went to work and then came home and took a nap and ate food and got ready and then...wait for it...wait for it.... went to see the fiery furnaces with heather and eric. it was amazing. it was at the middle east downstairs in cambridge. the opening bands were bodega girls who were ok...the lead singer was piss drunk and tried to organize dancing it was hilarious and the other opener was hallelujah the hills, which were also ok. they had a guitar/keys player who was like an elvis costello in training. hahaha. then the fiery furnaces were on. they are amazing. i need their music in my collection. *cough* heatherbryant *cough* i need to give you some blank cds so you can burn me fiery furnaces and NIN haha.
then on saturday i woke up and ran some errands and then went to heather's party which was really fun. i met all of her friends, who, by the way are freaking awesome. her friends ashely and mike and ian and sturk and the two people with the adorable dog, seeley (yeah I don't remember their names-i'm terrible at names) and phil :) all awesome. like for real. I hope i didn't forget anyone. at the same party i also got to hang out with tri town peoples, which was also awesome! took photos, which are up on my facebook.
while all of this craziness was happening, i managed to win tickets via twitter to amanda palmer's secret show in cambridge, ma on sunday june 14. my sister and i went after i got home from work. it was so epic. she played amazingness. ok amazingness isnt a song, but the show was amazing. it was so intimate and wonderful. walter sickert and the army of broken toys opened. and they are awesome. then amanda did three ask amanda sessions between songs. she played two on the ukulele and the rest on the piano.

this was an amazing set. everything had so much emotion in it and it was wonderful. after the show i waited to meet her (again) and she signed my Dresden Dolls: No, Virginia CD! I also got my picture taken with her...see facebook...and i told her how awesome the show was and i was so glad i could go. she is so awesome and is a big inspiration to me. and one day i will tell her this. but not yet because i still act like a freaking scardy-cat shy person. (WHY?!) I will make it my next mission to tell her how much she has inspired me as a musician and artist. I think i will take a photo series based on some of her work or something and send it to her/give it to her.
amanda is wonderful and so are her fans. i am still on cloud nine from this event.
then yesterday, monday i went out with heather to qdoba and got a chicken quesadilla and then we went to border's where we saw a book that richard belzer wrote (Yes, THE richard belzer from law and order SVU!!!!) and i found coraline by neil gaiman, so i bought it because i want to read it and it wasn't terribly expensive. I am psyched to start it. Also, we saw Star Trek...again. It was just as amazing as the first time I saw it haha. It was my second time, heather's thrid. :-P

in other news, i have to work early in the morning for the next three days. UGH.
i got my Who Killed Amanda Palmer DVD in the mail today. I ordered it from newbury comics awhile ago and I already watched it. Amanda says some beautiful things about our country that i completely agree with. Nowadays there is hardly any human connection. there are strip malls and more strip malls and cars. lots and lots of cars. there are places where there are hardly any people walking anywhere. it's quite sad. maybe we, as a human race, can change this. i am going to make a conscious effort to be more connected to people and interact with humans more. because as amanda said, behind all of this ugly, the strip malls and the cars and the starbucks and the office max's and the mcdonalds and stuff, behind all of that are humans. people, real people. the people are real. behind the ugly lies beauty. i have had enough watching all of this happen and i want to try and bring the beauty forth. So, i shall try to make it my mission to connect with people more and bring out the beauty in this ugly world through art and music.
I also ordered John Amiard's new (& first) book called Swedish Blood. It's a mystery type book about a journalist and it has to do with the boston area. John is Amanda's stepdad and i found out about it because she wrote about it in her blog. It sounded really good and I just bought it because I want to read it AND its about a journalist. I can't wait until it comes. there were probably other things i was going to say but they are escaping me at the moment.
but i've rambled on enough so, i shall leave you.
