Poem

Exercise: write a 13 line poem with the following words, one per line in the order they are given-
bread, moon, seed, child, sand, fruit, body, war, man, storm, work, woman, word

That is what my contemporary american poetry professor abbot cutler said to my class this afternoon. This is my stab at it. It's not the greatest thing ever. And it was written in 15 minutes.

It's untitled, btdubs....

She sliced the bread
As the moon rose in the sky.
While the seed grew in the ground,
The child crawled around and stopped
At the coarse brown sand.
A rotten piece of fruit lay there
Next to the decomposing body of a rabbit.
The maggots waged war on the rabbit.
A man walked towards the rabbit
As the storm rolled in.
He started to work on a painting
Of a woman he met ten years ago,
But instead he painted a word.
